Changes ahead
for bus routes

Winnipeg Transit will introduce a number of route changes on Sunday and Tuesday, with the major changes affecting the Charleswood and Tuxedo areas.

In both, extensions to the Corydon and Grant routes will replace the present Charleswood feeder bus.

Starting Sunday, Corydon-Charleswood buses will continue beyond the terminal at Corydon Avenue and Carpathia Street via Corydon and Roblin Boulevard to Grant Avenue. This will provide service to the northern Tuxedo and Charleswood areas, including Assiniboine Park.

Grant-Charleswood buses will operate west on to the present terminal in Westdale at Dale Boulevard and Rannock Avenue.

Alternate Grant buses with Grant-King Edward signs will operate from Grant via Kenaston Boulevard and the St. James Bridge to Polo Park, as do the present Grant-Polo Park buses. They will then continue north on St. James Street and west on Notre Dame to Red River Community College, until 10 p.m. Monday to Friday. This will provide a direct service to the Red River Community College from south River Heights and a more direct connection from Portage Avenue West to the college and also to the airport bus route. After 10 p.m. and all day Saturdays and Sundays, alternate Grant-Polo Park buses will operate from Grant via Kenaston to Polo Park only, as they do at present.

To provide service on west Taylor Avenue and to augment the service to Polo Park, Kenaston buses will operate from Campbell Street via Taylor, Kenaston to Polo Park during rush hours only, Monday to Friday.

Service to North Point Douglas will be provided by extending the Aberdeen bus starting Tuesday. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, the Aberdeen route will be extended via McGregor Street, Dufferin Avenue, King Street, Flora Avenue, Main Street, Euclid Avenue and Sutherland Avenue to Higgins Avenue. The return route will be via Higgins, Annabella Street, Sutherland, Euclid, Main, Dufferin and McGregor to regular Aberdeen route.

The Waverley-University bus will resume operating Sept. 5. Waverley buses operate from Polo Park via Kenaston, Corydon, Cambridge Street, Taylor and Waverley Street to the University of Manitoba. Service was discontinued during the summer months.

Starting Sunday, Talbot buses will be detoured from Broadway via Carlton Street, Assiniboine Avenue and Edmonton Street to (their) regular route. The detour will be in effect in off-peak hours only.
