Non-stop Bus Service Next Week on Portage

An experiment in express bus service will begin Monday on a route from city-centre to Assiniboia.

The buses on the route will be marked "express bus", and will carry a pennant mounted on the right front corner.

Buses will operate as locals between St. Charles St., in Assiniboia to Berry St. in St. James, but from there on in, no passengers may board. Passengers will be let off on Portage at St. James St., Valour Rd., Greenwood Place, Arlington, and all regular stops between Sherbrook St. and Garry St.

Outbound buses will stop only to pick up passengers at all regular stops as far as Sherbrook, then on signal from intending passengers at Arlington St., Greenwood Place, Valour Rd., and St. James St. Upon reaching Berry St., buses will resume local operatioi to Assiniboina.

A five-cent fare will be required when travelling anywhere in the express area. This premium fare will be collected as passengers leave the bus. Passengers not wishing express service wil transfer at Berry St. to regular buses.
