The new River Heights bus service from the downtown area to Lanark at Haskins via River, Grosvenor and Haskins Aves. will go into operation Sunday it was announced today by the Winnipeg Electric Company.
Decision to run the new route on Grosvenor is in line with council's decision Monday when it upheld a recommendation of safety committee 14-3.
The route will be established by continuing the present River buses west on River Avenue to Wellington Crescent. They will then travel along the Crescent to Grosvenor to Cambridge and thence by Haskins to the terminus at Lanark. Buses will operate in both directions on the route.
The downtown terminus, for the present and until such time as Garry St. is cleared, will be Fort and Portage.
River Heights passengers wishing to shop at downtown stores may transfer at Stafford and Grosvenor for Sargent trolley buses. Those going to south Fort Rouge may transfer to Stafford trolley buses for connection with the Jubilee bus at Pembina.
University students should also transfer to Stafford trolley buses for connections with university buses at Stafford and Pembina Highway.
