Fred Cleverley's column from 1985 says Winnipeg shouldn't be subsidizing Flyer any longer. This article still applies somewhat, although New Flyer is now in private hands.

Ridership Concerns

In the past few years, ridership on Winnipeg Transit has declined. I have reproduced a ridership chart that shows that something must be done to reverse this trend. The data is from the Winnipeg Free Press article which appeared in January '96.

Current ridership, as of 2004 is approx. 38 million passengers/yr.

Graham Avenue Transit Mall 1000 buses/day carry an average of 20 000-25 000 passengers.
